    Friday, October 16th

            *** We will have continuous free demonstrations in the show space- Including-washi storage, pen and paper testing , and various ink swatching methods  samples of sticker and planner set ups. These will be interactive showcases form vendors.

     

             1:00 pm Find your Style- Ink swatching with Olive Octopus   

    Whether you've never swatched fountain pen ink before, already have cards or notebooks full of ink swatches, or anything in between—learn practical and creative strategies for ink swatching that can be a valuable resource, a creative expression, or both!

    60 minute interactive presentation (no materials or previous experience required)

     

              2:15 pm Notebook Systems with Joe Crace 

    Join Joe Crace from the Gentleman Stationer in this free event  for an overview of different notebook systems, including those from Traveler's Company, Lochby, Midori, Roterfaden, and many more! Joe will have samples available to handle in person and will be available to answer questions. Due to the number of options available in today's market, choosing a notebook system can feel intimidating, but it's all about matching the system to your needs. Joe will also be bringing a limited selection of organizers and notebook covers for purchase.

    3:30 | Carve your own rubber stamps

    Using simple tools, I will walk you through the process of making and carving your own rubber stamps from readily available materials like erasers and other cutting materials. 

    What’s Included: 

    Carving tool, assorted package of blades, and cutting materials. Paper, pencils and stamp ink pads will be available for use in class. (Retail value: over $25)

    What's needed:

    Any simple black and white design, preferably line art or solid shapes, approximately 1-2" in size that you might want to carve. Additional sample images will be provided if you are stumped what to carve. Also, please bring a notebook to use to swap stamps with other attendees.

    Saturday, October 17th

    Ink Pony Club Lounge- in the show ball room 

    Take a break and visit the Ink Pony Club Lounge to paint with fountain pen ink. See inks in a whole new way as the colors come alive when mixed with water to paint. Everyone can color—no painting experience required! Water brushes, ink, and designs to paint (including ink ponies!) will be provided. 

    What's an Ink Pony? This all started when Brad (The Pen Addict) titled a Twitch stream "Ink Pony Club" and both an earworm and a discussion of what an "ink pony" would look like were born. I (Lisa, aka Olive Octopus) drew a vector coloring outline of a pony for myself and to share with the community so we could find out. This has become my invitation for everyone and anyone to make time to be creative.

    2-3 hour come-and-go session (all materials provided)


     

    3:30 | Create your own mini junk journal

    Using a variety of scrap papers (found and sourced) and paperboard boxes for the covers, I will show you how to make a small 3.5” x 5” junk journal perfect for collecting ephemera and memories from a trip, project, book or anything else. We will bind them together using staples or stitching so you will learn a bit about bookbinding while making your very own junk journal. All the techniques can be applied to any size notebook so you will learn skills you can use in the future.

    Class fee includes use of materials listed below and attendees will be able to take home at least one 3.5” x 5”  junk journal.

    What’s included:

    Selection of plain and printed papers to build your notebook
    Selection of recycled box material to make your cover
    Metal straight edge/rule
    Cutting mats and craft knives
    Binding materials

    What's needed:

    Feel free to bring your own bits of scrap paper (at least 5” x 7” in size) as well as any ephemera, stickers, washi tape or scraps you might like to add to your junk journal. Extra materials are not required but will help make your journal uniquely you.

      6:00pm    Roll With It: A Washi Swap & Swatch Social- Sponsored by Kaleidocraftprints

    Come hang out, swap washi, and get inspired with fellow stationery lovers!

    Bring a roll of washi from home-or pick one up at the show-and swap swatches with other attendees while building your own collection of washi samples. We’ll also share creative techniques and ideas for swatching washi and complete a fun project with your sample washi tape collection with plenty of time to experiment and chat.

    This is a casual, come-as-you-are event: no experience required. Just bring a roll you’re willing to share and get ready to discover new ways to use your washi!

    What’s Included?
    Everyone who brings a roll of washi to share will receive one free Washi Wallet insert and cutter. Full Washi Wallets and Washi Wallet expansion packs will be available for purchase. 

    All attendees will also receive a swatching template with creative designs and ideas to try.

    What to Bring
    This event is free to attend, but please bring one roll of washi from home or the show to share!

    10:30 | Gamify Your Life Planning System

    Make planning, journaling and getting sh*t done a game! Using techniques collected from RPG games, video games and the world of fantasy and sci-fi, you can turn your day-to-day activities into a loot-acquiring missions and side quests. We will build a D&D/video game character sheet with your goals and regular activities and combine it with a dice casting method to add a bit of fun and chance to your day-to-day life. Accomplish goals and get loot! 

    What’s Included:

    Includes 2 sticker sheets, zine and a set of dice for your gamification. (Retail value: $20) 

    What's needed:

    Bring your current journal and/or planner or a new notebook to start Gamifying your Life. Pens, stickers, washi and assorted ephemera also welcome.
